Here can be found update files of Arena Chess GUI versions.
You need one of the latest Arena Setup files, available on Arena webpages (download selection).
Replace the setup files with the newer beta test update files!

 

Arena 1.08 Beta 8 (1,282 Mb, Arena.exe, language file, help files)

Changes:
- support for UCI 2 (April 2004 extentions of Stefan Meyer-Kahlen) added.
  This results in two new dialogues:
  "Register Engine" and
  "Limit strength to ELO...".
   Engine programmers should support especially this new way of setting the strength of an engine.
- "Winboard 1" renamed to "Winboard (old)"
- loading speed of engines slightly accelerated.
- changes in copyright.txt, new partner engine Hermann by Volker Annuss

Arena 1.07 Beta 7 (1,272 Mb, Arena.exe, language file, help files)

Bugs removed in Arena 1.07:
- problems with loading fch-files solved
- 32325: Repetion detection fixed
- 32417: Display of list of EPDs without bm or am improved
- 32327: Calculation of nodes/sec improved
- 32295, 32292: Wrong time forfeit in demomode:fixed if engine sends "resign" before move
- 32255, 32257, 32256, 32294: Processing a list of EPD records with a list of chess engines fixed
- problem with bad looking board square graphics fixed
- slow display of board square graphics on some PC's accelerated

A few new options added: 
- support for chess font "1echecs" added
- faster start, unnecessary redraws removed
- changed default pieces to merida-style
- shadows a bit stronger

 

Arena 1.06 Beta 6 (1,268 Mb, Arena.exe, language file, help files)

Bugs removed in Arena 1.06:
- "shutdown after tournament" corrected
- Thomas Steiner at 03 Feb 2004: Variation cleared if new game
- Volker Annuss at 02 Mar 2004: "feature done=0" now triggers waiting until "feature done=1" correctly
- Slobodan Stojanovic at 03 Mar 2004: clock not stopped in Demo mode
- Volker Annuss at 09 Mar 2004: "offer draw" handled correctly
- Volker Annuss at 17 Mar 2004:Arena restart in batchmode switched off
- bad look of pieces in Windows 95/98/Me improved
- changed the way of writing to arena.debug (again), so publishing tool can work

A few new options added: 
- am-tag now supportet in EPD analysis feature
- display of larger graphics for squares now improved
- background graphics now possible to switch off for toolbar and clock area
- look of pieces improved
- you can now use a file my.rtf, my.doc or my.wpd instead of my.txt, if you want to format your notes file.
  Arena will load these files (with Help/Notes) if they exist.

 

Arena 1.05 Beta 5 (0,989 Mb, Arena.exe, language file, newer help files ca be found in Arena 1.04 Beta 4)

Bugs removed in Arena 1.05:
- some Winboard engines not moving after move 10.
- engine name probably not saved in Autoplayer slave mode.
- export board as a graphics file has too low quality.
- false draw claim now ignored. Treated as "draw agreed", if engine recieved a draw offer before.
- memory usage improved.

A few new options added: 
- shadows for pieces
- capital letter board coordinates.
- export board as a graphics file with coordinates.

 

Arena 1.04 Beta 4 (1,000 Mb, Arena.exe, language file, help files)

Bugs removed in Arena 1.04:
- Clocks did not reset after move in analysis mode.
- S29010: Engine defaults
- S29248: command line handling for tournaments improved
- Engine Cerebro confused Arena
- bugs fixed.
- autoplayer support improved again
- updates in help files.
- Sorry, no new options will be added until version 1.1 is released.
  I will have a short look at the ICS problems before releasing version 1.1.
  After that, then book transpositions, DGT XL-Clock
  (maybe this makes it into 1.1, I do not know).

 

Arena 1.03 Beta 3 (0,733 Mb, Arena.exe, language file)

- a lot of bugs fixed (see the comments on this page).
- autoplayer support improved
- Sorry, no new options will be added until version 1.1 is released.
  I will have a short look at the ICS problems before releasing version 1.1.
  After that, then book transpositions, DGT XL-Clock
  (maybe this makes it into 1.1, I do not know).

 

Arena 1.02 Beta 2 (0,695 Mb, Arena.exe)

- a lot of bugs fixed (see the comments on this page).
